Primary care and metabolic health in Minneapolis
Northbridge Clinic is a primary-care practice for metabolic health, sleep, nutrition counseling, and chronic disease. Visits are long enough to talk about labs, meds, and the week you actually lived — not a seven-minute refill.
How Northbridge works
Preventive medicine fails when it is a checklist with no follow-through. We do primary care: hypertension, lipids, diabetes, thyroid, mental health screening, and the boring vaccines. We also run a metabolic track — weight, insulin resistance, sleep apnea referrals, and nutrition counseling that is not a PDF of a food pyramid.
Minneapolis winters and desk jobs show up as vitamin D, mood, and knees. We treat that as medicine, not a wellness brand. You will get a clinician who has read the chart, a plan for labs, and a message thread that is not a portal maze from 2009.
Patients come from Healthline rabbit holes and from telehealth apps that never examined them. We are a clinic: in-person and video, referrals to Cleveland Clinic–level specialty care when needed, and enough time that you are not Googling your CBC at midnight.
What we actually do
Adult primary care
Acute visits, chronic disease, physicals, and care coordination. Same clinic for your blood pressure and your pneumonia.
Metabolic health
A1c, lipids, waist, sleep, and meds including GLP-1s when appropriate — with a plan for muscle and not just the scale.
Nutrition counseling
Registered dietitian visits tied to your labs, culture, and budget. Not a 1,200-calorie handout.
Sleep and fatigue workup
Screening, sleep-study referrals, iron, thyroid, and the meds that were quietly wrecking your nights.
Mental health in primary care
Screening, first-line treatment, and therapy referrals. We do not pretend a ten-minute visit is psychiatry.
Preventive and travel
Cancer screening, vaccines, and travel consults. Age-appropriate, evidence-based, no add-on upsell.
Guides from the studio
These are the pieces we keep on the homepage because they are the questions people ask in the first meeting.
- 01
What your A1c is trying to tell you before it is diabetes
Prediabetes, insulin, and the three habits that move the number.
- 02
GLP-1 medications: who we prescribe them for, and who we do not
Muscle, protein, and the follow-up we require.
- 03
Sleep apnea is not a CPAP commercial
When we refer, what the study shows, and why fatigue is a vital sign.
- 04
Lipids after 40: LDL, apoB, and when we start a statin
A conversation, not a scare email from a portal.
- 05
Vitamin D, winter, and what we actually replete
Minnesota-specific, lab-guided, not a megadose from a forum.
- 06
How to prepare for a 40-minute new-patient visit
Med list, family history, and the one goal that is not 'eat better.'
- 07
Telehealth vs exam room: what we will not diagnose on video
Rashes, belly pain, and the cases that need hands.
- 08
Cancer screening ages we follow — and the ones we push back on
USPSTF, family history, and shared decisions.
The landscape we work in
Northbridge is not these publications — we read them, send clients to them, and sit in the same niche. If you already follow this beat, you already know the names.
- Healthlinecondition explainers patients arrive quoting — we correct and deepen
- WebMDthe symptom checker we would rather replace with a visit
- Verywell Healthaccessible medical writing we sometimes assign after a diagnosis
- Medical News Todaystudy roundups patients forward; we put them in context
- Cleveland Clinicspecialty depth we refer into when primary care is not enough
- Mayo Clinicpatient-education pages we still consider a gold standard
From people we work with
Forty minutes, labs explained in English, and a dietitian who asked what I actually eat in January.
They treated my A1c as a project, not a lecture. Six months later it was a different number.
Portal messages get answers. I stopped using the ER for 'is this anything.'
